Abstract

The known method is improved by (a) largely preventing any displacement relative to one another in the flow direction of those liquid particles which are fed to the bed simultaneously or immediately after one another, until reaching the discharge from the bed container, and (b) keeping constant the co-ion content of the reaction fraction(s) by keeping constant, firstly, the volume of the reaction fraction(s), of the solution supplied from outside and of the liquids discharged from the system and, secondly, the co-ion content of the solution supplied from outside. As a result it is particularly suitable for employing ion exchange in disposing waste waters in industry and in municipalities and forms a valuable contribution to the protection of the environment.
