Abstract

Telephone systems.-When a transmission line is divided into two sections by a transformer, as in a two-way repeater system, impedances are inserted such that the resultant impedance of one section is substantially equal to that of the other section multiplied by the transformer ratio. The impedance inserted in each section may comprise a capacity, or a capacity in parallel with a resistance or inductance, or a capacity, resistance, and inductance all three in parallel. Mathematical investigations are given in the Specification to show how the elements of the two circuits should be proportioned in order that the above-stated condition may be approximately secured over a practical range of frequencies.
