Abstract

1537521 Printing of textile fabrics PRATT & LAMBERT INC 2 March 1976 08339/76 Heading D1B Washable and dry-cleanable raised representation are obtained on fabric substrates by printing the substrate with a printing composition comprising an adherent film-forming cross-linkable polymer binder in a liquid vehicle therefor, said composition containing 1 to 45 percent by weight based on the weight of the binder of thermoplastic, thermally expandable microspheres in said binder, heating to expand said microspheres and cross-link said polymer binder, and curing the crosslinked polymer binder at a temperature of about 300‹F for a period of 1 to 3 minutes. The microspheres may be of diameter 0.5 to 300 microns and the cross-linkable polymer binder may be ethylacrylate copolymerised with an addition copolymerisable carboxylic acid group containing monomer. Difunctional amines are used as cross-linking agents. Overprinting with a binder composition which does not contain microspheres is effected after curing.
