Abstract

1536969 Smallware loom shuttles YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 17 Dec 1976 [29 Dec 1975 (2)] 52747/76 Heading DIE A shuttle 10 for a ribbon loom comprises a bobbin 13 rotatably supported in a housing 11; a tensioning means 23 in the housing 11 for keeping weft thread W under constant tension as it is unwound from the bobbin, the means 23 including means for adjusting the thread tension; and a thread discharge eyelet 18 supported on the bottom of the housing 11 and adjacent the bobbin 13. In one embodiment, Figs. 1 and 3, the means 23 comprises a roller 24 frictionally rotatable between a stop plate 26 and a compression spring 27 about a fixed shaft 25, a nut 29 being movable to adjust the force exerted by the spring 27. Weft thread W unwound from the bobbin is wound two or three times around the roller 24, threaded through eyelets 21, 22 mounted on the housing sides by tension springs 19, 20, and discharged through the eyelet 18, the roller 24 and the eyelets 18, 21, 22 forming the vertices of a rhombus, Fig. 1. A modified tensioning device 31, Fig. 4, comprises a roller 33 secured non rotatably to the spring 27 and fitted over a sleeve 32a of a roller 32 rotatably mounted on the shaft 25. The thread W is wound once around a tapered surface 34 of the roller 32 and is trapped between this surface and a wall 36 of the roller 33.
