Abstract

1536943 Valves ATLAS COPCO AB 24 Feb 1976 [24 Feb 1975] 05120/76 Heading F2V A slide valve, e.g. for controlling the flow of actuating fluid to and from a pneumatic motor, comprises a housing having a pair of oppositely-disposed parallel flat guide surfaces 15, 16, Fig. 1, and fluid passages 20 to 24 ending in at least one of the guide surfaces. A valve slide is guided between the surfaces and has fluid-transfer and pressure-balancing passages 25 to 28 and 30 to 34 therein. Each side of the slide is provided with grooves containing seal rings encircling the boundaries of the passages in the slide. Each seal ring comprises a band-shaped contact member 36, Fig. 4, and a resilient support member 37, e.g. of rubber, which applies a uniformly-distributed loading force over the entire length of the member 36. The seal rings on each side of the slide may be integral with one another. The slide is biased into the, central, neutral position shown by a spring (40) Fig. 2 (not shown). The slide is operated by piston means 13, 14.
