Abstract

1536937 Power activated gripper TWOSE OF TIVERTON Ltd 5 April 1977 [7 April 1976] 14039/76 Heading B8H A gripper for handling fibrous or granular material comprises a lower jaw 16 consisting of a bottom wall and the lower portion of a back wall and an upper jaw 36 consisting of a front wall, a top wall and the upper part of the back wall, and pivotally mounted on the lower jaw at a level intermediate the effective height of the back wall. An hydraulic ram 44 is mounted between the jaws to effect activation thereof and the gripper is pivotally mounted on the loader arms 10 of a tractor about an axis adjacent the junction of the lower wall and back wall of the lower jaw. A further hydraulic ram 30 extends between the arms 10 and the gripper to control the attitude of the gripper relative to the arms. The jaws may be formed of tines or sheet material.
