1536349 Rotary positive displacement hydraulic pumps; reciprocating pumps; gas turbine fuel control systems SUNDSTRAND CORP 23 March 1976 [30 April 1975] 11734/76 Headings F1A F1F and F1G In a radial sliding vane pump, a cam ring 161 defines two part-elliptical lobes 162, 163 of differing profiles. As shown, the vanes 16 also act as reciprocating pistons, a pair of axially pressure loaded valve plates (21, 22) Fig. 2 (not shown) defining inlet ports 70, 71, 72, 73 and outlet ports 85, 86, 90, 91, thus providing four volumetrically different outputs. In the arrangement of Fig. 3 which may feed fuel to an aircraft jet engine, fuel from a boost pump 68 is fed to a pair of inlets 65, 66, one pair of outlet ports 85, 86 delivering into line 80 via line 81, the other pair 90, 91 delivering into line 80 via line 82 and a check valve 96. Each discharge has a spring and pressure loaded by-pass valve 100, 105, the latter having a weaker spring than the former. The pressure loading on the valves is controlled by a valve 120 having a spool movable by a diaphragm responsive to the pressure differential across a throttling device in a fuel control. As the diaphragm moves the pressure in lines 125, 126, 127 is varied by the position of the land 124, having output pressure via line 121a on one side and drain pressure on the other. A relief valve 112 connects line 80 to inlet 66.
