Abstract
1536187 Metal shot CANADIAN PATENTS & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 2 Feb 1976 [3 Feb 1975] 04031/76 Addition to 1459528 Headings C7A and C7D [Also in Division F3] Metal shot for use as non toxic bird shot consists in wt. per cent of 25-90% Fe, 0-5% of an alloying element promoting the wetting of Fe by Pb, and the balance Pb. The compositions and methods claimed in,the Parent Specification 1459528 are disclaimed. The alloying elements may be Cu, Sn, Zn, In although porous Fe shot can be infiltrated with Pb without any additions with a high enough temperature e.g. 960 C. The shot is formed by the methods disclosed in the Parent Specification, preferably by mixing the powders together, shaping into shot and sintering, or forming spherical agglomerates of Fe or iron oxide and impregnating with molten Pb.
