Abstract

1535842 Prilling pitch USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 19 Jan 1976 2029/76 Heading C5E [Also in Division B5] A heated hydrocarbon liquid e.g. pitch is fed from a storage tank on to a uniformly heated prilling plate 10, Fig. 2, to fall in streams through an enclosed uncooled space 26 containing a gas and/or vapour in which the streams break into substantially spherical droplets which fall into a cooling bath of a liquid which is immiscible with said droplets which are cooled to form substantially spherical prills. A screw conveyor 31 feeds the prills from the bottom of the bath to screening and drying means.
