1535453 Adjustable backrests DAIMLER-BENZ AG 18 Jan 1977 [29 Jan 1976] 01941/77 Addition to 1470578 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] In the embodiment disclosed by Figures 1 and 3 of the Parent Specification, the two pinions 13a, 13b meshing with the racks 15a, 15b are connected by a transverse shaft 13, said shaft 13 being connected via a reduction gearing 12, 11 to a handwheel 10 at the side of the backrest. The backrest is locked by brake discs 19, 20 releasable against a spring-bias 24 on depression of a knob 21. A spring element 17 biases the backrest towards the vertical (arrow 26).
