Mechanical toys.-A steering-mechanism as described below for wheeled toys is also provided with means for attaching a cord or the like in order that it may be actuated when the toy is pulled along by the cord. The front wheels of the toy are mounted on stub shafts E formed on cranked members D pivoted to the chassis A, and the cranks are connected by a bar C. A pin J projecting from the bar C engages in a slot I in a plate G which is pivoted to the front crossmember B of the chassis, and the plate G has a hole K for the attachment of a cord. Thus when the toy is pulled by the cord, the plate G is deflected, and the toy steered in the direction in which the cord is pulled. The toy may also be steered by a steering-column 0 which is pivoted at its lower flattened end in a slot H in the plate G. A toy horse mounted on wheels may have the steering-column provided with a universal joint and passing through the chest or through the mouth and connected to the reins.
