Abstract
1535225 Pressure sensor: vortex street flowmeter NEPTUNE EASTECH Inc 12 March 1976 [13 March 1975] 10132/76 Headings G1G and G1N A pressure sensor assembly for use in a vortex street flowmeter consists in a cylindrical housing 19 in which a pair of channels 25, 27 extend between ports at one end of the housing and respective opposite surfaces of a ferromagnetic diaphragm 21 the consequent vibration of which is sensed by a magnetic pick-up in recess 55 of a cap 49. The sensed pressure variations are due to vortex shedding from a bluff body 11 having orifices 41, 43 in its vortex-shedding surfaces 15, 17 in registration with cuts-out 29, 31 communicating with the channels 25, 27. An aperture 33 communicates pressure variations in the channel 25 via chamber 47 to the outer surface of the diaphragm. The orfices 41, 43 may be sealed with flexible diaphragms and another fluid than the one in which the bluff body is immersed may be provided in the channels 25, 27 to communicate the pressure variations to the diaphragm.
