Abstract
1534967 Overload protection arrangements SIEMENS AG 23 Jan 1976 [28 Feb 1975] 02586/76 Heading H2H [Also in Division H1] An overload protective device for the wires of subscriber lines of a telephone switching system comprises a first contact 11 which is connected to earth, a second contact 5 and a surge voltage arrester 1, one electrode 2 of the arrester being connected to the first contact and the other electrode 3 of the arrester being connected to the second contact via a fuse 4. A row of ten contacts 5 is embedded in an insulating carrier 9 and the ends 13 of the contacts engage the subscribe line wires when the protective device is inserted in a distributor of the telephone switching system. A row of ten contacts 11 forms a U-shaped holder 6 which is made of metal. Upon the occurrence of a prolonged overload on a wire, the associated fuse 4 melts causing the respective contact 11 to engage a portion 12 of the respective contact 5. The wire having the overload is therefore earthed and the displaced contact 11 provides a visible indication of the earthed contact.
