Abstract

1534519 Radar display W HINSCH 5 Dec 1975 [6 Dec 1974] 50051/75 Heading H4D A C.R.T. display device intended to complement a ship-borne P.P.I. is provided in proximity therewith on the ship's bridge and provides anticollision information, using a long persistence trace, a rectangular two co-ordinate display of bearing on the horizontal co-ordinate and range on the verticle co-ordinate. An approaching ship B's trace on successive scans decreases in range (elongation of its trace) and its bearing progressively changes to the left showing that it is on a non- collision course. However the ship's trace A remains on the same bearing as its trace elongates thereby showing a collision course and signifying that evasive action is necessary.
