Abstract

153,447. Goozley, C. A. Oct. 13, 1919. Gated rings.-A gated ring for connecting chains for jewellery &c. is constructed with a tubular outer gapped ring 10 within which a ring or disk 13 formed with a recess 14 is mounted to slide so that the recess and the gap 12 can be alined to receive the chain and then moved out of alinement, in which position the ring is retained by a projection 17 thereon entering the gap. The ring 13 may be formed from a wire or a plate, and the recessed part has its sides reduced in thickness to extend through a slot 11 in the outer ring. The construction prevents the outer ring from spreading and secures a frictional grip between the rings.
