Abstract

153,429. Vulcan Motor & Engineering Co., and Eckersley, E. Sept. 18, 1919. Stop-gear.-A re-setting device for the stop-gear of an internal-combustion engine of the kind having a piston supported by the pressure of the lubricating-system and carrying a device for earthing the magneto consists of a tapered plunger adapted to raise the piston and hold it until released by the increase of the lubricant pressure. In the arrangement shown, a cylinder B<2>, which is connected to the lubricating-system, contains a piston A the rod of which carries a disk C<2> connected to an earthing-wire D. The latter are insulated by washers C<0> and are secured by a terminal D<2>. On failure of the lubrication, the piston is depressed by a spring A', and a finger C on the disk comes in contact with the head of the cylinder B<2>, which is in metallic connexion with the engine cylinder. To re-set the device, a plunger E is pressed forward against the action of a spring, so that a conical head E<3> on the plunger engages a flange C<3> on the disk C<2> and raises the piston. The flange C<3> engages behind the head E<3> and retains the plunger until it is tripped by the rise in the lubricant pressure. The plunger is of insulating material, or is supported on a block E' of insulating-material.
