Abstract

189,837. Wieland, W. Aug. 5, 1921. Sparking-plugs; systems, electric; contacts, arrangement of external. - An adapter on each engine cylinder is provided with two sparking-plugs SP, SP<1> connected respectively to the normal and starting ignition circuits, and with an inlet pipe K<5> for supplving combustible mixture at starting. The starting ignition circuit comprises a contact arm, mounted on an engine-driven shaft carrying valve-actuating cams for distributing the combustible mixture to the cylinders. The contact arm moves over contact segments connected to the plugs SP<1> and is of such width that it is alwavs in contact with one of the segments. The segments are mounted on a disc adjustable angularly for timing purposes. A valve CD on the mixture inlet pipe K<5> is actuated by a plunger which also closes a contact in the starting ignition circuit.
