Abstract

304,030. Imperial Airways, Ltd., Humphery, G. E. Woods-, and Hall, H. L. Jan. 19, 1928. Sparking-plugs. - The casing 1 is screw - threaded externally for the greater part of its length, its position within the cylinder being determined by lock-nuts 15, 16 separated by packing 17. An internal flange 4 serves as a seating for a block 9 of insulating material, a second block of insulation 10 being pressed against the outer end of the casing and a washer 11 placed in a recess 3. The central conductor 6 is wrapped in insulation 8, and formed with a head 7 recessed to receive the end of the block 9. The opposing surfaces of the head 7 and casing 1 are serrated, or the spark gap may be formed between the casing end 1 and fingers 19 upstanding from the head 7. The insulator 9 may be circumferentially grooved adjacent to the sparkgap.
