Abstract

1533488 Coffee filter MAXS AG 12 April 1976 [26 April 1975] 14834/76 Heading A4E [ Also in Division B 1] A filter device for coffee preparation comprises a vessel 1, Fig. 1, divided into a plurality of compartments 6, 7, 8 by at least one vertically extending dividing wall 4, 5, each compartment having a re-usable filter plate 2 at its base and the upper rim of each dividing wall forming liquid overflows and extending to below the vessel wall rim, and a distribution tray 10 locatable above the dividing wall(s) and having water openings 10 located above one compartment 6 (which in use contains coffee powder), the arrangement being such that water will overflow from that compartment to at least the next compartment. Thus, as the quantity of water used is increased, then the effective filter surface area is correspondingly increased. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, there are two compartments only, an inner "coffee" compartment 18 depending from an outer annular overflow compartment 20.
