Abstract
1533109 Rollover plows deflectable by obstructions INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO 12 Dec 1975 [13 Dec 1974] 50984/75 Heading A1B The share support beams 11, 11' are secured to extensions 21, 21A which are pivoted at 24 to each other and to a hydraulic jack(s) 26, and are pivoted at 12, 12A to beams 13, 13A pivoted at 14, 14A to a yoke portion 15 of a frame 2 rotatable about the axis for inverting the shares 7, 7A, stops being provided to limit the rearward pivoting of the extensions 21, 21A about 12, 12A under the influence of the hydraulic jack(s) 26 in normal working, the working share being subjected to a restoring force following an obstruction. In Fig. 1, the stops are at 51 on the upper extension 21A and engage against the lower extension 21. Resilient assemblies 54 or 54A respectively engage the extensions 21, 21A when the share 7 is too high or too low to provide the restoring force. Further stops 34, 34A limit upward deflection of the beams 13, 13A. The angle of attack of the share 7 automatically varies to maintain a constant working depth D. On meeting an obstruction, the share 7 normally moves up and over it, but if the share 7 jams beneath the obstruction (Fig. 6), the extension 21 is pivoted about pin 12 thus forcing the rod 25 into the ram 26 against the resilience provided by a gas pocket 39 in the jack 26, until the obstruction is cleared when the jack extends again. Alternative holes 10, 10A may be provided for the pins 12, 12A in the extensions 21, 21A (as shown) and in the beams 13, 13A (not shown). In Fig. 12, the resilient assemblies 54, 54A have been omitted and the jack 26 is not pivoted to but is applied against two studs 91, 91A on the frame 2 and two studs 92, 92A on the extensions 21, 21A. As soon as the share 7 is lifted by an obstruction the jack 26 disengages from the pins 91, 92A and the line of action of the jack 26 provides the restoring force on the share 7. If the share 7 catches on the obstruction (as shown), the jack 26 is forced to retract by the pivoting of the extension 21 about pin 12. In Fig. 13, the jack cylinder 27 is rigidly attached to a triangular plate 47 which bears against two studs 91, 91A and is provided with a slot 46 in which the pivot pin 24 is slidably engaged, and operation is similar to that in Fig. 12. In Fig. 14, two jacks 26, 26A are pivoted at 14, 14A (or elsewhere) to the frame 2 and have slots 50, 50A slidably receiving the pin 24. In Fig. 16, a link 31 connects pivot pins 12, 12A, and the stops 51 are replaced by stops 32, 32A on the link 31. Elongated holes in the ends of the extensions 21, 21A receive the pivot pin 24.
