Abstract

1533057 Coated metal containers AMERICAN CAN CO 19 Nov 1976 [24 Nov 1975] 48284/76 Heading B2E A coated metal container is prepared by applying an organic resin coating to a metal sheet or strip, heat treating to improve adhesion to the metal and to effect partial curing or hardening of the resin, forming a container from the sheet or strip without actively applying heat between forming steps and further heating the formed container to cure or harden the coating and improve adhesion to the metal. The inside of the container may be coated with a vinyl organosol or an epoxy phenolic resin. The outside surface of the container may be coated with an epoxy phenolic resin or an epoxy-urea formaldehyde resin. The container may be of Al, steel or tin plate.
