Abstract
1532815 Reducing ducted fan noise ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd 27 Sept 1976 [2 Oct 1975] 40244/75 Headings F1C and F1J [Also in Division F2] To reduce noise produced by wake interaction the rotor blades 10, e.g. of a gas turbine ducted fan, each have pores or an aperture 16 at a radially inner region 20 through which boundary layer fluid is drawn centrifugally into radial passage 24 for discharge through aperture 22 at a radially outer region. The blade 10 may have a titanium skin surrounding honeycomb core 28 and partition 26, or alternatively may be of fibre reinforced metal or plastics. The pores at inner region 20 may be formed in a sintered metallic panel.
