Abstract

1532663 Elastomeric spring units DAIMLERBENZ AG 6 July 1976 [18 July 1975] 28047/76 Heading F2S A vehicle bumper mounting comprises a holder 3 for a prestressed elastomeric shock absorber 4 disposed between a bumper 13 and a fixed part 10 of a vehicle wherein the holder 3 consists of two U-shaped brackets 1, 2 disposed in opposite directions to one another, and the arms 9 of which overlap one another so that the arms 9 of the bracket 1 telescope between the arms 9 of the bracket 2 in the direction of the inward deflection of the elastomer 4 and wherein each of the brackets 1, 2 has a base portion 7 having holes 8 receiving bolts for connection to the bumper and vehicle and the brackets are each formed by a stamping and bending operation. The free ends of the arms 9 of the bracket 1 are provided with plates 11 which in engage in slots 12 in the arms 9 of the bracket 2 and are secured in the slots by pins 14. The ends of the elastomer 4 have bosses 5 thereon to engage in sockets 6 on the base portions 7. The free ends of the arms 9 have resilience and engage in prestressed condition. The arms of the brackets slide relative to each other with the interposing of a coating of plastics material.
