Abstract
1532527 Electronic timepieces SEIKO KOKI KK 3 Nov 1976 [13 Nov 1975] 45722/76 Heading G3T An electronic timepiece comprising a stepping motor coupled to hands, has a circuit arrangement which provides a voltage higher than the battery voltage to activate LED's thereby indicating that the timepiece is operating. In Fig. 1, a transistor bridge passes current in opposite directions alternately through the motor drive coil, consequently charging a capacitor C in opposite directions alternately. At the moment of reversal of the charging current, a voltage substantially twice the supply voltage VDD is applied across one of the LE diodes D 1 , D 2 in its conducting direction. Fig. 2 shows the potentials OUT1 and OUT2 at respective ends of the bridge diagonal, also the current through D1. The diodes emit light alternately each second. There may be only one LED as in Figs. 3, 5 (not shown), or the diodes may be in parallel with a resistor across the coil and capacitor, as in Figs. 4, 5 (not shown).
