Abstract

PURPOSE:To sense the rotation at low power by connecting a diode in parallel with one of driving transistors connected in series and connecting the seris circuit of a resistor and a switching element to one of the driving transistors in a bridge-type step- motor driving circuit for clocks. CONSTITUTION:A current with a small pulse width is conducted through A an MOS transistor 11 a coil 20 an MOS transistor 12 and D for driving a motor at low power. At the same time the pulse is stopped, a switching transistor 15 is turned on, and at first the current is conducted in the direction of an arrow in a loop l1. The braking force for a rotor is weak because of a higher resistance value 19. When the polarity of the induced voltage is reversed, the current is conducted through a loop l2, and the braking force which is stronger than that at the low impedance is applied. Depending on the difference in times at which the braking forces are applied, the difference between the induced voltage when one-step turn is made and the induced voltage when one-step tuen is not made, can be sensed. In this case, sensing is made at a C terminal. In the remaining half turn, sensing is made at a B terminal.
