Abstract

For electronic measuring instruments, the measuring mechanism of which exhibits a computer with a memory, an analog/digital converter, a temperature sensor and a time base device, an error compensation method is proposed which also uses the existing computer and memory. For this purpose, correction values of all components which can influence the measurement result, and of the reference quantities are recorded. In addition, temperature coefficients and aging-related change values of the reference quantities and components with respect to the time since the device was first used are detected and stored. All these values are taken into consideration by the computer in the calculation of the final measurement result. In this process, the correction values for the components and reference quantities are determined with the inclusion of all assemblies of the measuring instrument so that their errors are also taken into consideration.
