Abstract
1531508 Spray-producers E KUSTERS 22 Dec 1975 [6 Feb 1975] 52483/75 Heading B2F A slot nozzle for spraying a sheet-like jet of liquid for dyeing textiles, particularly carpets, comprises an elongate casing 1 Figure 1, an inlet 3 to the casing for liquid and a slot-aperture 2 defined along the length of the casing by a portion 9, Figure 3, of the casing and an elongate plate 6 which is connected to the casing along one 7 of its elongate edges, the other elongate edge being displaceable towards or away from portion 9 of the casing to adjust the size of slot-aperture 2, adjustment being made by means of adjusting members 12 distributed over the length of the casing engaging with the casing and the plate, the adjusting members being disposed outside of the crosssection of the nozzle aperture. To compensate for the diminished flow of liquid at the end of the casing away from the inlet the casing is tapered, as in the embodiment of Figures 1 and 3, and liquid fed to inlet 3 enters a chamber 5 defined by the rear wall of the U-shaped casing and a plate 15, the chamber 5 decreasing in crosssection towards a support 4 for the casing, flow to the aperture 2 being through openings 16 in plate 15. The flow of liquid through openings 16 is controlled by a throttle plate 19 also mounted on the casing and being adjustable towards and away from the openings 16. In a second embodiment, Figures 5-7 (not shown), the casing itself is not tapered but an inner plate, adjustably mounted on the rear wall of the U-shaped casing, defines together with the plate defining the slotaperture, a chamber which tapers towards the outlet. The slot aperture is defined by a bent portion of one limb of the U of the casing and the plate, which extend parallel to one another, adjustment of the gap being achieved by means of screw-adjusters mounted perpendicularly to the plate.
