Abstract

1531462 Sag rods METAL SECTIONS Ltd 21 July 1976 [6 May 1975] 18912/75 Heading E1W A sag rod 10 (Fig. 1) is provided at each end with a portion 11 of reduced cross sectional size as compared with the main body 12 and a pair of oppositely disposed notches 13, 14 between the reduced portion and the main body. In use the reduced portion of the sag rod is inserted into a square aperture 17 in a purlin and twisted until the notches engage the walls of the purlin. The sag rod may also be formed from a length of tubing 18 (Fig. 3) which is flattened at its ends and provided with a reduced portion 20 and notches 21 and 22, the reduced portion of which is inserted into an aperture 25 in the purlin and twisted until the notches engage the walls of the purlin around one of the circular portions 26, 27. The reduced portion may also pass through a slot in the purlin (Fig. 5) and the two ears 36, 37 bent to locate the sag rod in position. The sag rod may also be formed from a channel section member 38 (Fig. 6) provided with notches 39, 40 and strips 41, 42 which are opened outwardly after passing through a circular aperture in the purlin.
