Abstract

1531210 Device for intubation of the lacrimal ducts HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN TORONTO 30 Sept 1977 [1 Oct 1976] 40748/77 Heading A5R A device for correcting a blocked lacrimal duct comprises a flexible wire probe 12, one end of which is provided with an enlarged rounded portion 18 to prevent damage to tissue, and the other end of which is attached to a flexible plastics tube. In use, the probe is inserted through the lacrimal duct into the inferior meatus and used to draw the plastics tube into the lacrimal duct by means of a tool having a recess (28), Fig. 2 (not shown) adapted to receive the wire of the probe but preventing passage of the enlarged portion 18. The device preferably comprises two such probes attached to opposite ends of a piece of flexible plastics tubing (16), Fig. 1 (not shown).
