Abstract
1530247 Microbiological testing McDONNELL DOUGLAS CORP 13 April 1977 [3 May 1976 15375/77 Heading C6F A broth medium for the detection of Group D Enterococci such as Streptococcus faecalis in urine samples using automated optical detection apparatus, consists essentially of carbon and nitrogen source materials, an antibiotic inhibiter (neomycin sulphate) to inhibit growth of Staphylococcus aurevs, an inhibitor (potassium tellurite) to inhibit growth of Gram-negative organisms and an indicator system (esculin hydrolysate with ferric ammonium citrate) whereby metabolic activity of Group D Enterococci forms a precipitate in the medium. Sodium thiogly collate may be included to reduce the amount of available oxygen in the medium. The pH of the medium is 6À6.
