Abstract

1383050 Elastase AJINOMOTO CO Inc 13 Dec 1972 [24 Dec 1971] 57604/72 Heading C3H Elastase is produced by aerobically culturing Flavobacterium immotum (FERM P-1308), Flavobacterium incertum (FERM P-1309) or Flavobacterium pulchlum (FERM P-1310) on an aqueous nutrient medium and recovering the accumulated elastase. Other species of elastase producing micro-organisms are mentioned by way of comparison. The physical properties of the elastase produced by Flavobacterium immotum are set forth in detail, including heat stability, pH stability and the effect of metal ions and SH reagents. The elastase was found to be inactivated with cupric and zinc ions.
