Abstract

1530163 Bursting the closed cells of foams BAYER AG and MASCHINENFABRIK HENNECKE GmbH 31 Oct 1975 [21 Dec 1974] 45235/75 Headings C3C and C3R The closed cells of an elastic foam, e.g. polyurethane, are burst by applying a vacuum to the foam in a pressure chamber with a rigid bottom portion and a lid which can be sealed air-tightly and which comprises an elastic film. The preferred apparatus consists of two similar units 1a, 1b are connected to a common pneumatic control 3 wherein foam pieces 10a, 10b are placed in chambers 4a, 4b and suction is applied, simultaneously or alternatively, to the two units by vacuum pumps 18 using manual operation or a pneumatic control 3.
