Abstract

1529908 Photographic silver halide material containing a bisphenol and a magenta coupler KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd 8 Dec 1976 [12 Dec 1975] 51094/76 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive silver halide material comprises a support bearing a layer containing a magenta coupler having a 3-anilino-5-pyrazolone nucleus, the material comprising at least one bisphenol of the Formula:- where R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are each 1-18C alkyl, the total number of C atoms in R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 being up to 32; X is a single bond, O, S, SO 2 or -(CHR 5 ) n -; R 5 is H or 1-10 C alkyl; and n is 1, 2 or 3, and when n is 2 or 3, the groups R 5 can be the same or different. The magenta coupler preferably has the Formula:- where X is halogen, OH, CN, NO 2 , amido, diacylamino, N-substituted amino or optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, alkoxy or aryloxy; Y is optionally substituted aryl or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; W is a hydrophobic ballast group; V is H or a group defined for X or W; and Z is H or a split-off group. In a diffusion transfer material the bisphenol is preferably present in the imagereceiving element. Magenta dye images having excellent light resistance without yellow stain can be produced using this material.
