1448936 Benzimidazole derivatives EASTMAN KODAK CO 2 April 1974 [2 April 1973] 14602/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Examples 1-7 and 16-18 describe the preparation of benzimidazole derivatives of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>1'</SP> and R<SP>2'</SP> are hydrogen, alkyl or an optionally substituted phenyl, benzyl, acetyl or amino group; R<SP>3</SP>-R<SP>8</SP> and R<SP>3'</SP>-R<SP>6'</SP> are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, cyano or an optionally substituted amino, phenyl or benzyl group or a group of the formula -(alkylene) n COO alkyl, wherein n is 0 or 1; or R<SP>7</SP>+ R<SP>8</SP> is 5- or 6-membered, optionally substituted, cycloalkyl ring; or R<SP>1</SP> + R<SP>7</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> + R<SP>8</SP>, or R<SP>1'</SP> + R<SP>2' </SP>may form a heterocyclic ring.
