Abstract

1529863 Photopolymerization method IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 Jan 1976 [23 Jan 1975] 2992/75 Heading C3P A method for photopolymerizing a photopolymerizable material containing a defined mono- or di-carbonyl compound as photosensitizer and a defined reducing agent for the sensitizer comprises exposing the material to a source of visible or UV radiation, the material and radiation source being partially or completely enclosed by radiation reflecting means so that radiation not absorbed by the material is reflected back towards the material. The reflecting means preferably comprises a surface of polished aluminium or of biaxially orientated polyethylene terephthalate having aluminium vacuum deposited on one or both sides. The photopolymerizable material may be a urethane prepolymer, a vinyl monomer or an unsaturated polyester resin.
