1529657 Selective printing ITT CREED Ltd 9 June 1977 24081/77 Heading B6F In response to a signal of a first voltage a teleprinter carriage 3 traverses a platen (not shown) and a mosaic print head 1, 2 traces a path transverse to the direction of traverse. On receipt of a second signal, of higher voltage, the head marks a web on the platen. In response to the cessation of the first signal the drive to the carriage and head is discontinued and reconnected so that on the next occurrence of the first signal the carriage will traverse the platen in the opposite direction. As shown the head may be an electromagnetically controlled reed. Electrographic, thermographic or ink jet heads may be used instead. Printing may occur in both directions of traverse.
