Abstract
1528957 Distillation A E BUGGELE 22 Oct 1975 [11 Nov 1974] 43367/75 Heading B1B [Also in Division F1] In a diffusion pump the boiler 86, gutters 115-120 collecting condensate from the walls of the fore pump connection, and gutter 140- 170 collecting condensate from the wall 91 of the pump are provided with draw-off pipes connected to a source of lower vacuum through valves which permit the removal of the torpid upper surface of the condensate. Other pipes and valves permit the removal of condensate at other levels. One such pump may be used in a group of pumps to purify the pumping liquid of all the pumps. It is stated that the system may be used for other purposes e.g. the refining of petroleum or the separation of the isotopes of uranium.
