Abstract

1527990 Recovering vapour from a vapour/air mixture MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK and SHELL SEKIYO KK 24 Dec 1975 52796/75 Heading B1L. A vapour, e.g. gasoline, is recovered from a mixture of vapour and air by passing the mixture from a storage vessel through a compressor into a first absorption column where it is contacted with a first absorbent liquid to absorb part of the vapour, introducing the remaining mixture to a second absorption column where a second liquid absorbs at least a part of the remaining vapour, and, when this second liquid is saturated, stopping the flow of the mixture to the compressor and returning the gas leaving the first column to the storage vessel, transferring gas from the second column to the first column to reduce the pressure in the second column so as to release the vapour contained in the second absorbent liquid and subsequently introducing this vapour to the first column, and contacting the vapour with the first absorbent liquid to absorb and recover the vapour.
