Abstract
1527931 Valves JOS SCHNEIDER & CO OPTISCHE WERKE 8 Jan 1976 [18 Feb 1975] 00618/76 Heading F2V An electromagnetically actuated pilotcontrolled directional valve has a 4-landed symmetrical pilot spool 2 coaxial with a main spool 3, the pilot spool lands co-operating with control ports in the main spool to form control restrictor orifices, all the orifices being varied simultaneously so that the main spool is caused to follow the movement of the pilot spool. Piston actuating surfaces 28, 28<SP>1</SP> on the main spool are fed with control fluid from an inlet 22 via restrictor orifices 19, 20, annular chambers 25, 251 and inclined passageways 26, 26<SP>1</SP>. Control fluid is discharged from the control chambers 27, 27<SP>1</SP> via restrictor orifices 18, 21, control ports 15, 17 and annular return ducts 29, 29<SP>1</SP> connected to a discharge passageway 40. Leakage fluid which passes between the reduced diameter end portions 31, 31<SP>1</SP> of the main spool and metallic sealing rings 32, 32<SP>1</SP> is fed back to reservoir via slots 39, 39<SP>1</SP> in the sealing rings and restrictor orifices 36, 36<SP>1</SP>. Restrictor orifices 35, 35<SP>1</SP> in the pilot valve armatures provide a damping effect on the system. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a single double-acting electromagnet is used instead of the two single-acting electromagnets of the first embodiment.
