Abstract

The cylindrical part (6) of the cover surrounds the flywheel (2) and has fluid chambers (11), to which and from which fluid from a cooling-fluid circuit is supplied and removed. The cover furthermore has two flat parts (7) with a shaft gland (9) in front of the faces of the flywheel. In this way, the gaseous medium around the flywheel is cooled and, as a result, the heat which arises at the surface of the flywheel (2) due to the frictional losses is carried away in an effective manner. Acoustic and thermal insulation (10) of the flat parts (7) furthermore result in good soundproofing. <IMAGE>
