Abstract

1526739 Hydraulic mining KAISER RESOURCES Ltd 22 Oct 1975 [25 Oct 1974] 43364/75 Heading E1F A mining machine comprises a groundsupported frame 30, a main monitor 60 mounted on the frame adjacent the leading end thereof, a breaker mechanism 47 mounted on the frame between the ends thereof, a conveyor extending the length of the frame for transporting material mined by the monitor 60 from the front of the frame past the breaker 47 to the rear of the frame, and an auxiliary monitor 61, which may be mounted on the frame over the breaker, and is used for breaking up material mined by the monitor 60 and for moving this broken up material into the path of the conveyor. Preferably the monitor 60 may be mounted by a frame-supported structure so as to be above the conveyor on the centre line of the frame or at one side of the frame. The monitor 61 can be located at either side of the said centre line. The frame is moved about the mine by means, e.g. a winch on the frame hauling on an anchored cable, powered by means on the machine. Preferably such a machine is used in a sloping entry and the crushed material is removed from the entry as a solids/water slurry in a flume.
