1525871 Cleaning screen rakes LONGWOOD ENG CO Ltd 24 Jan 1977 [9 March 1976] 09442/76 Heading BID In a filtering apparatus comprising a screen, e.g. a curved bar screen 1 for separating solid material from a liquid, which is cleaned by one or more movable rakes, e.g. rakes 2 mounted on rotary rake arms 3, and wherein solids are removed from the rakes by means of a scraper mechanism comprising a scraper bar 5 mounted at one or both ends onto a pivoted arm 6, the arm normally resting under gravity on stop 8 but being lifted by the (clockwise) rotating arm 3 with the result that the scraper bar moves along the rake 2 from its inner end to its outer end, the scraper arm 6 and the rake arm 3 carrying complimentary camming components, e.g. pin 9 and curved cam surface 10 such that the arm 6 is lowered progressively back onto stop 8 by continued rotation of arm 3 after completion of the rake-scraping operation rather than falling back under the influence of gravity alone. The cam may also allow movement of the scraper bar 5 out of the path of the rakes on opposite (clockwise) rotation of arms 3.
