Abstract

1505674 Evaporating apparatus CROFTSHAW (SOLVENTS) Ltd 8 April 1976 [9 April 1975] 14555/75 Heading B1B Evaporator drum 2, sandwiched between condenser drum 1 and residue drum 3, comprises an internally heated evaporator plate 8 having a radial sector-shaped slot 9 and a spreader/scraper arm 11 mounted radially on rotatable shaft 12. Liquid, e.g. contaminated solvent, is delivered intermittently through spout 10 at regular intervals and is spread around the plate 8. Solvent vapour rises into the condenser 1 and the residue on the plate is scraped into the slot 9 falling into the collector 3. Two or more evaporator units may be provided in cascade. Instead of a rotary spreader/scraper, the cyclical action may be obtained by other means, e.g. endless belt with successive spreader and scraper bars.
