Abstract
1525705 Electrostatographic developers XEROX CORP 22 Aug 1975 [26 Aug 1974 (2)] 34947/75 Heading G2C An electrostatographic developer comprising carrier and toner particles at least one of which contains a styrene/methacrylate copolymer containing active hydrogen atoms which have been subjected to controlled silylation so as to modify its triboelectric properties. The specified copolymer is a styrene/n-butyl methacrylate copolymer which has been reacted with amino-hexanol (as in Specification 1525702) arid then reacted with dimethyl aminotrimethyl silane. Difunctional silanes may also be used to produce cross-linked copolymers. The silylated copolymers are preferably used as coatings on carriers such as flintshot and the coated carrier may be used with a toner of natural resin, polystyrene, acrylic resins, polyesters, polyalkylenes, epoxy resins, cumarone/ indene resins or phenol-formaldehyde resins. Alternatively, the toner contains the desired copolymer and it may be mixed with a dye or C black.
