Abstract
Empty packaging containers (2) on a lattice conveyor band (1) and, at the same height and parallel thereto, a lid band (20), are moved through a sterilising station of the apparatus. The sterilising station has an electron accelerator (5) sweeping across the two bands (1, 20) and a lead reflector (6). The sterilised containers (2) are filled in the filling station (7) and are thereafter closed, in a closing station not shown, by means of lids punched out of the sterilised lid band (20) in the punching station (13). The disadvantages of conventional thermal or chemical sterilisation are avoided. <IMAGE>
