Abstract

1525176 Partitions; extrusions ECONOMIC INSTALLATION & CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 18 Feb 1976 06429/76 Headings E1K and E1W An extensible rectangular panel has two portions 10 and 12 connected together by a cam-operated extending mechanism which extends or contracts the vertical height of the panel. The cam. fixed to the upper portion 10, has a series of notches 40 around its circumference at varying distances from the pivot 41, which engage with a roller located on lower portion 12 (not numbered) so that by rotation of the cam with the aid of diametrical slots 44, the lower portion 12 of the panel is separated from the upper portion 10. A plurality of stable positions each giving a different total height of the panel is thus obtained. The panel may be provided with castors at its base which extend below the bottom face when the panel is at its minimum width. Several such panels may be joined by their vertical edges, the edges incorporating extrusions of the section illustrated in Fig. 5 (72), the dovetail groove being provided to receive a resilient sealing bead 80 which seals against the face of a complementary extrusion provided in the vertical edge of an adjacent section. The panels may also be extensible in the horizontal direction, (Fig. 5) in which case the extrusions 72a, 72b are provided to seal the joint between adjacent panels 70 and 74 and the joint 72c, 72d between panel 74 and end block 76.
