Abstract

1524541 A lock for cables LOWE & FLETCHER Ltd 19 Dec 1975 [6 Jan 1975] 441/75 Heading E2A A rotatable barrel lock for clamping a cable comprises a clamping member 14, free to slide in bore 15 and prevented from rotation by projections 16 engaging grooves 17 in casing 1, and a threaded stud 12 attached to barrel 6 which engages with a thread in the clamping member 14 so ensuring that the clamping member slides when the lock barrel is rotated. In the position shown in Fig. 2 a hole in the clamping member is aligned with a hole in the casing to give hole 4 into which a cable may be inserted for clamping by rotation of the lock barrel. If required one end of the cable may be permanently attached to the lock by means of cap 19. A further embodiment shown in Fig. 5 utilises clamping members comprising pivoting arms 41, 42 held by spring 45 on cables 49, 50. Rotation of barrel 140 causes the projection 40 to engage the arms 41, 42 and pivot them out of engagement with the cables against the spring 45. The cables are clamped against movement in one direction but free to move in the other direction (e.g. with cable 50 in direction of arrow P).
