Abstract

1524393 Heat reflecting glass sheet PILKINGTON BROS Ltd 27 May 1976 [6 June 1975] 24426/75 Heading E1R [Also in Divisions B5 and C7] A heat reflecting glass sheet is coated on one side with a layer of Cu and a layer of a colour modifying substance e.g. Cr, Ni-Cr, Al-Fe-Cr so that when the sheet is illuminated by standard illuminant 'C' from the non coated surface, the reflected light has the following colour coordinates. X Y Z 0.352-0.360 0.317-0.323 0.317-0.331 The light transmitted preferably has the coordinates X Y Z 0.333-0.339 0.341-0.353 0.314-0.320 The Cu layer is preferably 160-260Š thick, the layer of colour modifier 10-40Š, both layers preferably being deposited by vacuum evaporation, although sputtering or deposition from solution may also be used. The Cu may be deposited over or under the colour modifier and an outer protective layer of SiO may also be applied. The coated glass is used as a window, a laminate or a double glazed unit.
