Abstract

1523621 Producing cement clinker MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 31 July 1975 [31 July 1974 20 Sept 1974 30 Sept 1974] 32113/75 Heading C1H [Also in Division F4] Cement clinker is produced by suspending powdered cement raw material in primary oxygencontaining gases, mixing with the suspension an amount of fuel greater than that required for complete combustion with the oxygen in the primary gases, burning to cause incomplete combustion of the fuel and partial calcination of the cement raw material and to produce reducing exhaust gases including combustible gases from the fuel and, suspended therein, the partially calcined cement raw material, mixing the reducing exhaust gases with kiln exhaust gases from the burning of the calcined material, the kiln exhaust gases containing nitrogen oxides, introducing secondary oxygen-containing gases into the mixture of exhaust gases, completely burning the combustible gases in the mixture and calcining the partially calcined cement raw material, separating the calcined cement raw material from the gases and then burning the material in the kiln. An apparatus for carrying out the process comprises a kiln (1), a gas duct (4a) connected at its lower end to the entrance to the kiln (1), a first cyclone (2a) whose upper end is connected to the upper end of the gas duct (4a) and the lower end of which cyclone (2a) is connected to the entrance to the kiln to permit the passage of powdered cement material from the cyclone to the kiln (1), a second cyclone (2b), means (3c) for supplying powdered cement raw material into the second cyclone, a gas producer (5), whose bottom opens into the lower end of the gas duct (4a), means (3b) for supplying the cement material from the second cyclone to the gas producer, means (6) for supplying fuel and primary oxygen-containing gases to the gas producer (5) and means (9) for supplying secondary oxygen-containing gases to a point above where the bottom of the gas producer (5) opens into the lower end of the gas duct (4a).
