Abstract

1523324 Inverters; standby supply systems SIEMENS AG 26 Sept 1975 [13 Aug 1975] 13016/78 Headings H2F and H2H An inverter, for use as a standby supply in the event of failure of a mains supply U N , comprises a control circuit which prevents commutation of the controllable rectifiers n1-n4 in the inverter if a commutation signal would occur immediately after the starting of the inverter. A control device 10 monitors the mains supply voltage and current and on failure of the mains supply opens a switch 3. The device 10 starts the inverter by supplying a start signal to a flip-flop 11 which unblocks gates 22-25 to release firing signals from stores 16, 17 to the thyristors. A switch 6 is closed by the device 10 to connect the inverter output via a filter 2 to a load 1. In order to prevent the release of any commutation signals to the inverter immediately following the start command, the control circuit includes monostable delay devices 12-14 which temporarily block gates 18-21 thereby blocking the signals from a generator 8a. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the delay devices are omitted and the gates 18-21 are blocked when sensors in the commutation circuits of the inverter detect a commutation current in excess of a threshold value.
